Our company was founded in 2009 and has continued to grow ever since. Our team in Paderborn now comprises more than 50 employees.

Your thesis subject:

  • We use optimization algorithms as a very powerful mathematics tool  – because this way we are guaranteed to arrive at a (sufficiently) optimal solution. However, you can’t say how long it will take.
  • In theory, it is barely possible to say in general. In practice, however, for a specific application and after a few test runs, our consultants already have a gut feeling for how long an optimization will take.

Ojectives and methodology

  • The objective of the work is to turn this gut feeling into a useful predictable of the optimization runtime for the user, so that he/she gets an estimated run time before the optimization starts.
  • This is where Machine Learning comes in: Based on KPIs of an optimization problem, e.g. the number of nodes, products and time intervals for network planning, the system should learn and predict how long an optimitazion will approximately take. And with each scenario that has been calculated, the system continues to learn.
