For example, this process can simultaneously take into account available shipping, rail, and road capacities, transit times, delivery dates, tank occupancy, minimum inventory levels, and production priorities. The result is not an abstract calculation, but a well-reasoned plan: which delivery takes priority, which capacity is reserved for what purpose, and where a cost or risk buffer is intentionally built in.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

This also makes it clear why a seemingly cost-effective solution is not chosen. Perhaps rerouting saves freight costs but jeopardizes the supply of a particularly critical raw material. Perhaps a higher safety stock reduces risk but overloads the warehouse infrastructure.
