OPTANO Architect III

The third part of our OPTANO Architect series deals with the deployment process of the application. If you have only just joined us here but would first like to know what OPTANO Architect actually is, what advantages it  offers and how it functions, we recommend you read The OPTANO Story – OPTANO Architect Part 1 and The OPTANO Story – OPTANO Architect Part 2.

Distributing, installing and updating software in large networks is a time and resource-consuming process for businesses and their administrators, in particular. This could also have been the case with OPTANO Architect – but it’s not, because in order to save precious time and resources, we use OTA.

OTA – What is it?

OTA stands for “Over the Air” and means a so-called air or radio interface, in other words, a wireless method to distribute settings and updates.

You can distribute various data via OTA. It is most commonly deployed for smartphones & co. By using a classic OTA, application or operational system updates are sent wirelessly to smartphones and other mobile devices such as tablets. WAP oder MMS settings are also sent by OTA updates, depending on the device and network operator.

Deployment and updates via OTA

OPTANO Architect uses OTA for automatic software deployment and updating for the Client. Via an encyrpted connection – i.e. over the air – updates are loaded onto an internal or external data/webserver. During each new load process, OPTANO Client searches for updates on the server independently. If the latest version is available, this will be installed and started up on the Client automatically. Beforehand, the updates of the Scheduler ( the optimization model)  and the database are rolled out, if necessary, so that the Client always accesses the right optimization model as well as the right database.

With regard to the deployment and upgrading of software and applications, OTA increases flexibility immensely. In view of constant software (further) developments, automatically updating Clients in large networks saves a huge amount of time and resources, in particular for the administrator who is not even required for a Client update.

Safety – on the ground and in the air

The time which administrators and businesses save is not the only advantage of our deployment process. Just like airlines around the world, when it comes to OPTANO updates, Safety is written with a capital S. Deployment and updating via OTA means:

  • encrypted connections – always!
  • sensitive data is not distributed
  • optional password-protected access of Clients to updates

Enjoy your flight – enjoy OPTANO

With OPTANO Architect, not only do you take off, but you also get where you want to be – and fast.  Above all, consultants and optimization experts – but others, too –  are highly impressed with OTA and also with the other advantages the application has to offer as one of the five components of 360° OR-intelligence of the OPTANO platform.  Its short “time-to-market” offers another bonus.
