OPTANO is a product of ORCONOMY GmbH. ORCONOMY is a successful and dynamic IT-start up located in Paderborn, Germany. Our team is made up of OR-experts, software engineers, consultants and out-of-the-box thinkers which implements mathematical optimization methods for users. We develop customized application software based on our OPTANO platform for medium-sized companies and large corporations. Our goal is to find professional solutions which work convincingly in productive operations so that our clients can plan more efficiently and ensure that they gain a competitive edge in their respective markets.

We need your impetus

As a software developer you will support our team in implementing software projects. You will learn how modern software is developed and will be responsible for your own work package.

Your tasks will be varied and will normally encompass one or more of the following areas:

  • software system architecture, structuring programs and classes
  • the design, creation and implementation of user interfaces
  • support in the visual processing of data
  • the design and implementation of data logic and presentation levels
  • the display of individual user processes in software

Basic knowledge in at least one of the above-mentioned areas would be of advantage; however, on-the-job training will be provided.

As an undergraduate assistant you will work together with experienced developers. You will communicate with project leaders, consultants and developers. Together we will find solutions which have impressive quality and efficiency.

Convince us of your abilities

You would like to apply your know-how in fascinating practical projects and still continue studying and

  • you are interested in software development
  • the creation and usability of software fascinates you
  • you see things from a user perspective and can understand the needs of the user

Experience in at least one of the following technologies would be of advantage:

  • Visual Studio, Programming in C#
  • Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) or Windows Forms
  • EntityFramework, Linq2SQL or Linq2Entity
  • storage and run time tuning

As an undergraduate assistant you will receive ongoing training specifically in the applied technologies. Due to your interest in learning new technologies and methods, you keep up with current developments.

You also enjoy working in a team and conduct yourself professionally and fairly towards colleagues and clients. You communicate honestly and openly, you are not afraid to express your opinion and expect the same from your colleagues. Assuming responsibility for your own work is standard practice for you. You observe appointments, meet fixed deadlines and approach problems head-on. You are willing to suggest improvements and you support other team members with your know-how. You don’t shirk new challenges but welcome them. You are keen on broadening your professional horizons and are open to learning new skills.
